”Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit still
and watch the leaves turn.”
- Elizabeth Lawrence
Greetings from China! I’m here in Shanghai managing catering for the guests at a global beauty brand’s conference. Above is a scene at the Shanghai Wen Miao, also known as the Confucian Temple: these wishes will be tied to the wishing tree. I’m staying at the Westin Bund Center where there’s a daily Chinese and Western breakfast buffet in the lobby decorated with a glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly.A few blocks away, the waterfront area of Central Shanghai is known as the Bund and a central figure is the Oriental Pearl Radio and TV TowerOverlooking the Bund is the Waldorf Astoria.Survival supplies in our office include adaptors and chargers of all kinds, a dedicated calligrapher for the many table numbers and place cards, Chinese Snickers and Red Bull and aids for whatever ails you.It was sunny on Friday when we did a site visit at the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Center.Love the ceiling. And back at the temple:before heading back and diving into the many details, a moment of stillness and peace…kind of like this dog soaking in the day.
